Mr. Finney is the owner of Ivy Pointe Title and Finney Law Firm. He is a licensed attorney in Ohio, Kentucky and the District of Colombia, as well as a licensed Ohio real estate title insurance agent. Mr. Finney was named Ohio Lawyer of the Year in 1998 at the age of 37.

Bringing more than 30 years of experience as a real estate attorney, Mr. Finney has knitted together the attorneys of the Finney Law Firm with the title professionals and attorneys at Ivy Pointe Title to create a sophisticated and robust commercial and residential title insurance company. The Finney Law Firm gives depth to the title company in the areas of corporate and transactional law, real estate law, probate and estate administration, trust law, bankruptcy law, and commercial dispute resolution. To date, Ivy Pointe Title has closed more than 4,500 real estate transactions under Mr. Finney’s leadership.

Mr. Finney is an experienced transactional attorney and commercial litigator, allowing him and his firms to seamlessly document and close your transaction, as well as address disputes that can arise during the course of a transaction.

As a transactional attorney, he has handled dozens of multi-million dollar acquisitions and financing of real property from shopping malls and strip centers, to manufacturing facilities, apartment buildings and office buildings. Mr. Finney and the firm represent some of the largest office and retail developers in the Cincinnati marketplace, as well as land developers and home builders.

Additionally, Mr. Finney handles the entire range of regulatory issues and due diligence for clients who request such services. These include zoning and land use restrictions, engineering and road access issues, utility access issues, including a strength in the federal RLUIPA and ADA statutes. He has also represented hundreds of property owners in federal class actions under the 4th and 14th Amendments to the US Constitution. Mr. Finney has successfully sued cities, villages, townships and the state of Ohio on dozens of unconstitutional and illegal regulatory actions.

Mr. Finney combines his in-depth knowledge of real estate law with his litigation experience to resolve easement disputes, construction disputes and property defects claims, adverse possession claims, complex partnership and trust issues, enforcement of restrictive covenants, as well as other title disputes. Mr. Finney’s litigation experience has taken him to three wins before the United States Supreme Court and multiple victories at the Ohio Supreme Court. He has argued many cases in state and federal trial courts and appellate courts. Mr. Finney has handled literally thousands of real estate tax valuation cases, saving clients tens of millions of dollars in real estate taxes over the past decade.
